Khalil: I Became a Christian Because...
Khalil shares how he found salvation and security in the sacrificial work of Jesus. He found the key and secret to heaven in the promises of Jesus.
My dear beloved Afghans, you always ask us, "Why did you become Christians?"
It's a very good and relevant question, and we're excited to hear this question because it gives us a reason to share our hearts.
First of all, I must say that being a Christian means being a follower of Jesus Christ and having Jesus Christ in your life, thoughts, existence, and in your heart.
Secondly, why did I become a Christian? Why did I become a follower of Jesus Christ? Because I needed forgiveness of sins and salvation. I was a sinful person, and still am; but no one can bear the sins of another. I found no one; I read a lot and was very, very committed to following my religion and beliefs. But I had no hope in heaven. But Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ gave me hope.
He guaranteed that I can, in faith in Him, go to heaven; meaning, living in the presence of God forever and ever. What could be better than this? What could be greater than being in the presence of the living God for eternity and worshipping Him?
No one has guaranteed this. No prophet, no leader, no one in the history of humanity has been able to guarantee my journey to paradise, to the presence of God; except Jesus Christ, who is my Lord and Savior.
Jesus Christ says in the Gospel of John, chapter 14, verse 6: "I am the way and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me."
He doesn't say no one can "go" to the Father; he says, no one can "come" to the Father because Jesus's place is already in heaven. He came and sacrificed his own life for us. He sacrificed for me and you, and went to heaven and is currently in heaven, and I will one day be in heaven in faith and in fellowship with him.
It is written in the Holy Gospel in the Book of Acts of the Apostles, "Salvation comes only through Jesus. No name other than Jesus has been given to people under heaven by which we must be saved."
So, Jesus Christ is the only Savior of humanity. That's why I became a Christian and I am His follower; because He saved me and granted me eternal life.
