The Story of Creation

In the beginning, there was nothing but God. And from nothing, God created the whole world. He created the earth, the sky, the sea, and all the animals. And everything that God created was good. It was paradise on earth.

God said, "I will create man. I will put my likeness in him." So he took some dirt and made man out of it. And he blew in him, so Adam became alive.

God said, "Yeah, Adam, I'm going to put you in this paradise where there are trees of all kinds. You may eat of all the trees except for one; the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Do not eat from it. The day you eat from it, you will die." So Adam obeyed God's words and didn't eat from it.

God saw all the animals in pairs, but Adam was alone. He decided to create for him a companion like him. God put Adam to sleep and removed one of his ribs and created a woman out of it and put her in front of him. When he woke up from sleep, he looked at her in front of him and said, "This is flesh of my flesh and bone of my bone." And Adam and Eve lived in the paradise, happy and lacking nothing.

What does the story of creation teach us about God? About man? And God’s intention for man? What did God mean when he warned them not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil?
